basement magic
its only 6 foot ceilings, and its 14 degrees down here, but i am loving my new basement office/studio. i found a nice big oak desk that was collapsible enough to bring down to the basement and it is a dream! goodbye yellow walls and hello ample book-shelving!

New Light Fixture... so far unnamed!
I can't take all the credit... thanks Becky for photoshopping the pics to make them worthy to be shown on the internet! This little light fixture in gracing my closet... I have been planning to finish it for a little over 2 months but just never got around to it :)

Chalky Mount Potter
....a mixed media/collage painting, finally finished, got taken to the gallery today for a first airing....he's life size and when the painting was standing in the living room, it looked like someone was sitting there!
I HAVE been painting, but mostly teaching....no time to post...I will need to rectify that!
pillow dress
This is the middle of the dress that is now two change purses, Becky's bag, a pillow and the sleeves have been adopted by Gracie as some stylish slouchy ankle warmers. Every single inch has been re-crafted!
Fancy shirt bag
This is a fancy shirt with a belt that I received as a gift. I didn't ever wear it but I now tote my sewing stuff around in it, now that it is a handy fancy tote bag!
Happy 'Belated' Birthday Becky!
Dear Becky, I planned to give you this hand sewn satchel made from a brown corduroy dress, and paisley print tie with a matching change purse when I saw you last Friday. House!
We've been very busy since Barbados with this house buying and moving nonsense. I will post wall colours and fun interior shots tomorrow. Until then here are our smiling faces in front of the lovely little joint. Any suggestions on her name? So far we are considering Wanda, Scarlett, eramosa, and comberger manor.

The beginning of Re-Creation!
So I pulled out my grandmothers old sewing machine. It literally hasn't been used since she died when I was 7 which was in 1987. I have only ever sewed a pencil case and a set of curtains (not on this machine & with help), I have decided I would teach myself to sew. I didn't even know if the machine would work but it does. Fortunately Jamie knew how to load a bobbin and thread the machine....(WHAT!) This is a discussion we have never ever had. So I had no idea he was so sewing knowledgeable. I then used his gun oil & oiled her up.
Here are the photos of my first project. This is an old dress which I never wore. I had the idea to make a pillow case. It was Gracie's idea to make the rest into a nifty purse. She is so clever! After a lot of thought the designs required 5 straight lines and there were no scraps & no hand sewing! They aren't perfect but I am so happy with my first attempt!
If any of you have some nifty patterns on shirts or dresses which you never wear could you please purge them to me. xo JLee

barbados by car
here is a quick video i shot with my phone from the back seat of Heidi's car. watch out - it might give you an epileptic fit or a simple headache, so proceed with caution.

Can you spot the unnamed bajan political leader of note that i drew from a framed photograph on a hospital wall? Hurray for impromptu sketching to pass the time!

Ha ha, I did the whole print backwards by accident, so I had to reverse it in photoshop so the text would be the right way. I was so excited about carving the words I forgot to reverse them!!
